West Brom fans plead for Jonathan Bond to start Championship games this season

[ad_pod ]

West Brom boss Slaven Bilic rung the changes for their Carabao Cup tie against Milwall on Tuesday night as they were defeated 2-1 at the Hawthorns just days after meeting in the Championship.

Regular shot-stopper Sam Johnstone was rested in favour of Jonathan Bond getting some game time, and his performance has caused many of the Baggies faithful to wish he would be given a chance in the league.

The 28-year-old joined the West Midlands club on a free transfer from Reading following the expiry of his contract and made just three FA Cup appearances last season.

He has some experience in the Championship across spells at Watford and Reading having played 36 appearances between the two, keeping nine clean sheets.

A number of West Brom supporters took to Twitter to throw their support behind the 6 foot 5 goalkeeper with one fan saying ‘what a keeper, this is why I want him starting Championship games.’

Others added that they would play Bond over first choice Johnstone every single time as he’s a ‘liability’ whilst a further member of the Hawthorns crowd said he at least deserves a shot.

One fan was rather cynical suggesting that despite a good performance, he reckons the former England under-21 keeper will still be on the bench on Saturday.

Here’s the best of the reaction:

Spurs fans wish Georges-Kevin Nkoudou well after Besiktas move

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur fans have wished Georges-Kevin NKoudou well after he completed his move to Besiktas.

The French winger struggled to make any sort of impact at Spurs following his move from Marseille in 2017.

He made a total of 27 appearances for the club, scoring once, and perhaps his most telling contribution came last season, when he provided the assist for Harry Winks’ injury-time winner against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Nkoudou has spent the past two seasons out on loan, playing for Burnley in 2018 and Monaco in 2019.

His move is reportedly worth close to £4.6m, with a clean break finally found for the pacey forward.

Besiktas finished third in the Turkish Super League last season, four points behind eventual champions Galatasaray, and will play in the Europa League this season.

And Spurs fans have sent their goodwill to the 24-year-old as he looks to get his career back on track in Turkey.

Arsenal’s Unai Emery doesn’t have a plan, according to Simon Jordan

[ad_pod ]

Simon Jordan has slammed Unai Emery and has questioned whether he has what it takes to manage a top Premier League club.

What did he say?

Arsenal started the season well, beating Newcastle United and Burnley in their first two Premier League games 1-0 and 2-1 respectively.

However, they were then defeated 3-1 by Liverpool on Saturday, and easily so. New signing David Luiz was amongst the Gunners’ worst performers, but there were plenty of culprits on the day.

And former Crystal Palace chairman Jordan has questioned Emery’s credentials after the loss. Talking on talkSPORT’s Press Box, he said:

“I’ve got this image in my mind of Unai Emery, thinking that there is something about him. But maybe there just isn’t?

“Because I have got Sevilla in my mind and the Europa League and what he has done there, but maybe there just isn’t.

“I think there’s a plan, but when I see transactions like Luiz I think ‘no, there is not a plan’.”

AFTV’s Robbie has his say on Arsenal’s owners in the video below…

Give him time

It may have been a disappointing result for the Gunners at Anfield, but there is still plenty to be positive about. After all, they are not really competing with the Reds at the moment because, along with Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp’s side were miles ahead of the pack last season.

Against the Toon and the Clarets, Arsenal picked up wins in the sort of matches they wouldn’t have always done in the past. They were both tight affairs against awkward opposition, yet Emery’s men stayed strong to pick up maximum points, and the manager deserves credit for that.

It must also not be forgotten that the former PSG boss is attempting to integrate several players into his side. New signings Dani Ceballos and Nicolas Pepe are yet to fully adjust to the Premier League, whilst Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson are far from regulars at the Emirates Stadium. Luiz’s performance can be questioned, but he has the experience and the CV to indicate that he will be an important player for the Gunners.

Winning three Europa Leagues is no mean feat and should not be taken lightly. Once the new players adjust, the Gunners could be a very difficult proposition.

Arsenal overpaid for Nicolas Pepe according to talkSPORT pundit

[ad_pod ]Did Arsenal overpay for £70m man Nicolas Pepe? We’re only four games into the season but in the 243 Premier League minutes, we’ve seen the 24-year-old play it’s fair to say he’s got some ability. The way he effortlessly courses around the pitch with the ball stuck to his feet is admirable, and the speed in which he does it is impressive. Lest we forget, Pepe became the first player to successfully dribble past Virgil van Dijk in 50 Premier League games.Watch Arsenal Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

But then there are a number of players who can run around quickly in the Premier League. Just look at the state of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Adama Traore. That man-cheetah-thing is about as quick as they come – is he suddenly going to fetch millions in the market? Probably not.

What are we meant to expect from our star signings in the modern game, taking inflation into account? Do we demand an immediate impact, or should patiently wait for them to (possibly) become one of the best talents in the world? Is creeping progression really worth the wait? Should we measure their success by the immediacy of their impact? After all, if a club pays big money, they have every right to expect serious output, and Pepe hasn’t necessarily given that.

Darren Gough and talkSPORT Drive have weighed in on the subject with their own analysis…

Arsenal fans respond to Vinicius Junior transfer speculation

[ad_pod ]According to UOL Sport, Arsenal contacted Real Madrid over the summer to discuss a potential move for Brazilian attacker Vinicius Junior. However, the report claims that the Gunners were informed that the 19-year-old would not be available despite Eden Hazard’s arrival at the Bernabeu from Chelsea.Vinicius officially joined Madrid from Flamengo in July 2018, and the South American scored seven times and registered 13 assists in his first season with the club.According to UOL, Arsenal’s newly-appointed technical director Edu approached Los Blancos over a swoop for the teenager ahead of the new Premier League campaign. However, it is not too much of a surprise that the Spanish giants turned down the interest after an impressive first year in La Liga.Watch Arsenal Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Barcelona fans want Arthur Melo to start against Valencia

It’s a big game for Barcelona this Saturday as they will be hosting a rather dangerous opponent at the Camp Nou.The Bats of Valencia will be coming to Catalunya and they will no doubt be hoping to snatch away all three points from the Blaugrana. But having only one win under their belts so far in the new 2019/20 La Liga season, Ernesto Valverde and his troops will also be hoping to finally get going.Watch Spanish Football Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

And while we still don’t know what lineup Valverde is going to use on Saturday, many of the fans have taken to Twitter to voice their own opinions about the 23-year-old Arthur Melo, who they seem to think deserves to start the game.

The midfielder, who joined Barcelona in a £35.5m deal in July 2018, has seemingly won over plenty of the fanbase with his almost ethereal ability to dictate the play from midfield.

They said they were hoping to see him on Saturday and some couldn’t believe that he was not in the starting lineups in the past three games.

One fan even proclaimed he’ll support only Barcelona B for the rest of the season if Melo doesn’t start against Valencia.

QPR fans hit back at Joel Lynch’s subtle dig at the club

[ad_pod ]

Lots of QPR fans have taken to Twitter to hit back after former defender Joel Lynch subtly labelled the club a ‘mediocre’ side.

Speaking to The Chronicle about his decision to join Sunderland this summer, the 31-year-old said: “I’ve always been at that sort of mediocre level – I’ve never been in the playoffs or been in a successful team so the challenge of coming here and being successful really appeals to me.”

While his words may well have been said in an innocent fashion, it has caused a great deal of offence to a number of QPR supporters.

His comments seem to have sparked even more of a fierce reaction given how poorly the Wales international performed whilst with the R’s.

Two fans below labelled Lynch as one of the worst defenders they have ever seen play for their club.

Back in August, meanwhile, another referenced his terrible ability when criticising centre-back Yoann Barbet this season – he was so bad, it seems as though his awful performances are being used as a benchmark in which to compare other below-par performers.

Let’s take a look at some more of the Twitter reaction…

Liverpool fans send positive messages to Fabinho as he makes 50th appearance

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool’s Fabinho made his 50th appearance for the club in the 2-1 win over Chelsea, and fans are congratulating him on a great display and for reaching the milestone.

The Brazilian only made his debut for the club a little more than a year ago, in September 2018, and several fans are impressed with the contribution he has made since.

He is rightly being praised, too. He has been a colossus in the heart of Liverpool’s midfield since breaking into the side and has hardly put a foot wrong in attack or defence, as the fact he has only been on the losing side seven times suggests.

Fabinho anchors the midfield for Liverpool and whilst Virgil van Dijk has received recognition for being one of the best defenders in the world over the last 12 months, his life is made easier by the presence of his teammate, who averaged 1.1 interceptions and 2.5 tackles per game for Liverpool in the top flight in 2018/19.

Some fans have taken the opportunity to show appreciation for his performances, whilst others have issued congratulatory messages, as seen in the reactions below.

Leeds’ lack of depth came back to bite Marcelo Bielsa last weekend

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

By the time April had come around last season, Leeds had suffered 31 various injury and fitness issues to their playing staff.

Their problems in that regard was one of the biggest worries they were facing heading into the new campaign but so far this term, Marcelo Bielsa has found a way to adapt and work his way around the small squad he possesses.

Leeds have used just 17 players in the Championship this season, the fewest of any side in the division. It’s a number that doesn’t even make up a full matchday squad.

It isn’t a damning statistic but as things caught up on the Whites towards the back end of 2018/19, winning just one of their last six games, their lack of depth could catch them cold once again.

Bielsa’s side had a wonderful opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table last weekend.

They were cruising at one point versus Derby and should have been out of sight. They had over 60% of the play, hit the post and missed a penalty. How they didn’t win is difficult to work out.

Chris Martin managed to steal in as the game reached its final stages, leaving Leeds to stare at a record which sees them with one win from their five home matches in 2019/20.

There are various reasons for why that’s the case but a lack of depth and game-changing options on the bench hurt them against the Rams.

At 1-0 up, Pablo Hernandez was withdrawn in place of Barry Douglas. Customary substitutes Helder Costa and Eddie Nketiah were used but with the Spaniard heading off the pitch, there was a sudden lack of quality and ability to push for a second.

Watch Leeds United Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Tyler Roberts was ignored, which was possibly understandable considering he’s only just coming back from injury, but with Jack Clarke not in the squad and Mateusz Bogusz missing, they lacked viable options.

Squad depth was a common issue when injuries wreaked havoc with Leeds last term but they somehow found a way to negotiate themselves through choppy waters.

It would be a big ask to do the same this season and their inability to deal with minimal options on Saturday cost them.

Rather strangely, Bielsa had Gaetano Berardi, Robbie Gotts and Douglas at his disposal.

Three defenders on the bench is particularly strange and when they needed to go in for the kill late in the game, their lack of another fit attacker cost them.

Man Utd fans slam Marcos Rojo after disappointing display against AZ Alkmaar

Just a couple of weeks after lighting up Old Trafford with a failed rabona, Marcos Rojo was given another opportunity to impress for Manchester United on Thursday night.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave the Argentina international a starting spot in the clash against AZ Alkmaar, and the 29-year-old didn’t exactly vindicate his manager’s faith in him.The defender had been linked with a move to fellow Premier League side Everton for the second consecutive year in the summer transfer window, but failed to see a move materialise. And based on this showing, the Toffees may feel they have dodged a bullet. The 6 foot 2 man made no tackles, interceptions or blocks, and lost possession 13 times – the second-most of any United player on the pitch. After seeing Rojo’s poor display, United fans flooded to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the Argentine’s performance.Watch Manchester United Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Many supporters of the Manchester side hammered him for simply not being good enough, with one fan in particular insisting that he is “League One quality at best”.

Some Red Devils fans questioned his technical ability, and pointed to his tendency to clear the ball when under no pressure at all.
