West Ham: Offering Andy Carroll a new deal is stupid

Sometimes letting go could be a rather good thing, no matter how hard it may be; West Ham United should take note.

The summer presents a football club with plenty of opportunities to make changes, either by freshening up the dressing room with new faces or shifting on the deadwood that has been burning a hole in the club’s finances for next-to-no reward.

Andy Carroll is one of those men that fall into the latter category, as he has been rather anonymous at times for the London Stadium outfit. Injury after injury has plagued his time in east London and has seen his appearances extremely limited; leaving us to think it would not be too harsh to say that they sometimes feel like a flying visit.

The former England international’s contract is up in the summer, presenting West Ham (and him) with the perfect opportunity to start again and wish each other well with their future endeavours.

However, it appears the Hammers could be about to shoot themselves in the foot!

According to a report by The Sun, Pellegrini’s side are considering to offer the 30-year-old a new contract that would be structured differently to the one he has at the moment. Well considering he has earned millions in wages from the club since joining from Liverpool in 2013 for doing next-to-nothing, it bloody well should be!

Carroll might have been a servant to the club, albeit from a hospital bed (okay, that might be a slight exaggeration but it is not too far from the truth), however, this summer is the perfect time to call it quits, shake hands and move on.

West Ham are in a completely different place to where they were in 2013 when he signed for them and would be better off using the money they can save by offloading him and put it towards a high-profile striker that can take them to the next stage of their ambitious plans.

Even if they were unable to sign a new forward (god forbid!), Pellegrini already has a number of better options available to him, so surely keeping Carroll at the club would be no more than for sentimental reasons and one that would just turn out to be a disastrous mistake.

West Ham, just move on. As hard as it may be, just do it.

West Ham fans, what do you think about the Carroll situation? Do you think the club should just let him leave or give him another go? Let us know below!

Southampton signing Ademola Lookman may have big impact on Nathan Redmond

[ad_pod ]

According to The Independent, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl wants to sign Everton winger Ademola Lookman in a £20m deal this summer, and his arrival at St Mary’s may have a big impact on Nathan Redmond.

What’s the word, then?

Well, The Independent report that the 21-year-old is up for sale having failed to force his way into Marco Silva’s plans at Goodison Park, and Hasenhuttl is keen on a reunion with a player he had on loan with him at RB Leipzig in 2018.

The Independent report that the Austrian boss is hoping to use the England U21 international’s pace and energy for his high pressing game next term, as Saints look to avoid being involved in a Premier League relegation battle for the third year running.

The sparingly-used Lookman has two years remaining on his contract with the Merseyside outfit, but would still command a fee of £20m.

Big impact on Redmond

The fans’ and players’ player of the year has played in a range of attacking positions for the south coast outfit in 2018/19, but he has usually featured from the left-hand side in a 4-2-2-2 or 5-2-3 system.

Southampton fans may love Ralph Hasenhuttl but do the owners? Check out the video below…

However, that may well change should the Lookman arrive at St Mary’s seeing as he has tended to play from the same side during his career to date.

Redmond recently suggested to The Daily Echo that he would like to play in more of a No.10 role, and he may well get his wish should the £20m summer deal go through.

Hasenhuttl’s preferred formation is the 4-2-2-2 based on his previous management roles, and the presence of Lookman in the starting XI could see the former Norwich City man further forward alongside a striker like Danny Ings.

That is certainly an exciting prospect for Saints supporters and for the 25-year-old himself, who could be in for a very different 2019/20 campaign.

Southampton fans react to Moussa Djenepo’s interesting Instagram activity

[ad_pod ]Reported £20m Southampton target Moussa Djenepo has sparked a big reaction from Saints supporters on Twitter following some recent activity on his Instagram account. The Mali international liked a comment one of his posts which said “Southampton”, which of course has caught the eye of some members of the St Mary’s faithful ahead of a big summer for the club and Ralph Hasenhuttl. The Africa attacker scored 11 goals and provided six assists for Standard Liege this term. With pace and a direct style of play, he is ideal for the Austrian manager’s preferred pressing style of play.

Southampton fans will be hoping for a new dawn under the 51-year-old next term following a second successive season battling relegation in the Premier League, and the 20-year-old would be an exciting, if relatively unproven, addition to the frontline.

When an eagle-eyed supporter spotted Djenepo’s like, others were quick to respond with one saying “well spotted”, and other saying “good find lad”.

Here is how Saints fans are reacting on Twitter:

Arsenal: Thomas Partey is a necessary signing for the Gunners

Arsenal might go through a minor overhaul this summer as some big figures are looking to find their way out of the club. But the Gunners are also on a lookout for fresh blood and an exclusive report from Football Ghana claims they have been keeping an eye on Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey. This absolute powerhouse of a midfielder would be a rather brilliant signing for the London club, and not to mention a necessary one as well.

There’s been a lot of talk of departures within Arsenal these last couple of weeks as some of the club’s big-shots are nearing the exit door. Some contract are close to being finished and some others have simply not performed as well as they should’ve. That is the nature of football and change is a constant part of it. Unai Emery is well aware of that fact and has therefore taken to the market in search of a worthy candidate, which, if the reports are to be believed, has led him to Thomas Partey. And it just might be a home-run.

This 25-year-old Ghanaian midfielder offers a versatile skill set to Atletico Madrid, dictating the games going both forward and backward. His physical presence cannot be overlooked as this complete powerhouse of a player often bosses the middle of the pitch as if it’s his own. Arsenal are in dire need of someone who can control the pace of the match and suit it to the team’s needs. Not to mention that Partey offers a more than decent return in numbers, totalling three goals and six assists in all competitions last season.

He is also in his prime years and playing the best football of his career. Seeing how such players are in high demand and are usually pretty expensive, Partey’s £43.5m release clause makes this deal that much easier, and more importantly, cheaper. This is especially true when we factor in his estimated Transfermarkt value of £45.00m, which means that paying the release clause is the way to go.

If the Gunners are really serious about letting the likes of Mesut Ozil go this summer, they will need someone who can slot straight into the team and replicate the German’s return immediately. Partey is a player who fits that profile, offers the versatility, stability and danger for the opposition’s goal. All of this makes him a rather necessary signing for Arsenal and his price makes him an absolute steal in the modern market.

Stan Kroenke would be more than wise to pounce on this chance, activate the release clause and give Thomas Partey a home at the Emirates. It sounds like a no-brainer but the Gunners will have to hurry because the chances are, they’re not the only ones prowling around Atletico’s camp…

Arsenal fans, would you like your club to buy Thomas Partey? Do you think he’s a worthy substitute for the possible departures you are facing this summer? Let us know in the comments below…

Sheffield Wednesday: Bruce is the perfect man to lead the Owls back to the big time

Having finished in an underwhelming 12th place in the Championship last season, Sheffield Wednesday will be aiming for much better in the 2019/20 campaign.

Yet in order to build the foundations needed for success, manager Steve Bruce must be backed by his chairman Dejphon Chansiri in the upcoming transfer window as a failure to do so could lead to another year of mediocrity.

Whereas the likes of Carlos Carvalhal and Jos Luhukay failed miserably with their recruitment during their respective periods in charge of the Owls, the 58-year-old has an excellent track record of bringing in the right players at the right time.

Although he was relieved of his duties at Aston Villa in October after a poor run of results in the second tier, he deserves some credit for signing the likes of Tammy Abraham, John McGinn and Anwar El-Ghazi as they all played a pivotal role in helping the club secure play-off glory at Wembley Stadium earlier this week

Furthermore, when you consider that Bruce has masterminded no fewer than four promotions from the Championship during his managerial career, he may be the perfect man to end Wednesday’s 20-year wait for Premier League football in 2020.

Given the fact that he was able to successfully steer the Owls away from the daunting prospect of being dragged into a relegation battle last season, with a solid squad of players at his disposal, there is no reason why he cannot secure a top-six finish at the very least next May.

Whilst the likes of Leeds United and Derby County may end up grabbing the headlines over the coming months due to the frenzy surrounding Marcelo Bielsa and Frank Lampard, Bruce’s composed nature could allow Wednesday to sneak quietly into contention next season.

What do you think Owls fans? Are you confident that Bruce can lead your side to success next season? Who do you think the former Hull City manager should sign this summer? Get in touch below.

Leave! Liverpool fans aren’t happy that Adam Lallana is staying

[ad_pod ]

Lots of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to express their frustration at the news that Adam Lallana is set to stay at the club, according to quotes from the player himself as provided by journalist Simon Peach.

The 30-year-old endured an injury hit 2018/19 campaign as Liverpool managed to win the Champions League, their sixth major European Cup.

You can relive Liverpool’s Champions League celebrations in glorious 2D thanks to the guys at 442oons in the video below…

However, Lallana played a sporadic role and made just 16 appearances across all-competitions, whilst picking up a reported weekly wage of £110k-a-week.

As a result, the news that the former Southampton man looks set to stay at the club next season hasn’t gone down too well with the Liverpool supporters, with some under the impression that the attacking midfielder simply doesn’t pull his weight at the club.

And understandably so.

Given the fact that the Reds have just won the Champions League, they should be able to lure some top players to Anfield with their reputation as European champions, so clinging onto deadwood such as Lallana seems fairly underwhelming in all honesty.

Let’s see how the Liverpool fans reacted to the news…

Manchester United fans are "over the moon" about Daniel James

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Manchester United fans have been running the rule over Daniel James’ imminent move to Old Trafford.

Not much has gone right in the red half of Manchester recently, but the Red Devils look set to secure their first signing of the summer.

According to The Sun, United will pay an initial £15m to sign James from Swansea after he underwent a medical on Thursday.

The 21 year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time, and BBC have confirmed that the fee could rise to £18m.

Could Harry Maguire be on his way to Old Trafford? Check out the video below to see why it would make so much sense…

James enjoyed a stunning breakout campaign in the Championship, scoring four times and adding seven assists, and fans are delighted to see somewhat of a change in transfer strategy from the club.

All too often signings have been made based on their name, reputation and price tag, whereas James is a hungry young player who fits a specific need in the squad, a far cry from the scattergun approach the Red Devils have often taken in recent windows.

Chelsea: Transfer ban is causing Chelsea problems in manager search

As far as a potential successor for Maurizio Sarri goes, Ajax’s Erik ten Hag would be perfect.

Ten Hag has done a fantastic job working with very young players at the Johan Cruyff Arena, something the next Chelsea boss might have to do given the west London club’s transfer ban.

On top of that, like Sarri, the 49-year-old also plays a very offensive game. On their way to the Eredivisie last season, Ajax scored a whopping 119 goals, 21 more than second-placed PSV Eindhoven.

From Chelsea’s perspective, a move for ten Hag makes so much sense. It, however, looks like any approach is likely to be unsuccessful, with Goal reporting that the Dutchman is cautious about the job in the Stamford Bridge dugout due to the transfer embargo.

It is probably not the only thing that will cause him and other candidates to have reservations, though. After all, this is a position that has chewed up and spat out three Premier League-winning managers.

The lack of stability for a coach such as ten Hag, who has already shown at Ajax that in the right conditions he is capable of building something, will surely be a turn off.

That, of course, has not stopped managers from taking the Chelsea job before so, ultimately, the transfer ban is the one real outstanding issue here.

Even a coach who is able to develop players in a quick and short space of time is likely to be crippled by the transfer embargo to a certain extent. For example, though Michy Batshuayi and Tammy Abraham look like promising options, the next Chelsea boss will be going into next season without a real elite Premier League centre-forward.

Bearing that in mind, it would not be a surprise to see more than one person give Roman Abramovich a no thanks this summer.

Matt Targett and Tammy Abraham respond to Ryan Sessegnon’s Instagram post

We leave club football behind us for a while and head into international waters. England’s U-21 squad is all but ready to step into the European Championship as the Young Lions compete in group C alongside Croatia, France and Romania.

Ryan Sessegnon snapped an image on

/Byr9LQMgRl6/” data-lasso->Instagram letting the fans know the team is on their way to Italy after they’ve finished with their preparations in the training camp and it immediately caught the interest of his teammates and friends alike.

Tammy Abraham was first to respond, showing his love for his teammates. The young forward will, of course, be accompanying Sessegnon in the tournament as one of England’s four strikers and is expected to play quite a role in their campaign to glory.

But the 23-year-old wasn’t the only one showing affection and support to the Young Lions. Matt Target, Southampton’s defender in demand and one of the young Englishmen who’s not a part of the squad also wished them the very best of luck.

With two goals and six assists to his name, Sessegnon will look to have a great impact on England’s chances in the tournament.

Many Leeds fans are getting caught up in conspiracy theory

[ad_pod ]

Leeds United fans on Twitter are getting themselves into a frenzy stating that their Carabao Cup draw against Salford City was fixed.

Of course, there is no actual evidence of foul play in the draw, but it is a huge coincidence that the Whites have drawn Salford.

The Ammies are one of the highest profile clubs in League Two due to their affiliation with Manchester United and the fact that they are owned by the class of ’92.

It didn’t take long for Gary Neville to have his say on the draw either as he took a swipe at the Yorkshire club on his social media account.

This fixture is one of the exciting matches that could have been drawn in the competition, and due to this fact Leeds fans have pointed their fingers towards a fix.

Certain sections of the fanbase have placed the blame on Sky Sports adding to United supporters’ long-running issues with the broadcasting company.

Here’s what the Elland Road faithful have had to say on Twitter…
