Aston Villa fans relive 4-3 victory over Spurs

Although Aston Villa’s current campaign may seem a far cry from previous eras of Premier League success at the club, these fans have been reliving a famous victory over Tottenham Hotspur from 1994.

Goals from Dalian Atkinson, Graham Fenton and a last-minute winner from Dean Saunders gave Brian Little’s side an impressive victory over the north London outfit in the capital, something the current Villa side were unable to achieve when they took on Mauricio Pochettino’s boys on the opening day in the current campaign.

Although the 1994/95 season would see Villa finish 18th, these fans have certainly been enjoying the anniversary of such a memorable victory with many sharing their own specific memories of the game, ranging from Saunders’ strike to it being one fan’s first-ever away game supporting the West Midlands side.

Here are some of the best reactions following an official club tweet marking the 15th anniversary of the 4-3 victory over Spurs.

I played with Kane & Dele at Spurs, now I’m having a nightmare in Romania

Despite that chaotic 3-2 defeat to Brighton, Tottenham supporters must be feeling pretty happy at how the Ange Postecoglou era is going.

The style of football can be a bit disorganised but you’re always guaranteed one thing with Spurs; entertainment. They play high press, with a high line and want to attack. It’s a shame Gareth Southgate didn’t have that motto over the summer with England.

Alas, Spurs look good and finally appear like a team who are no longer missing Harry Kane. Dominic Solanke arrived for a £65m fee over the summer and has three goals to his name already despite an injury-hit first few weeks in London.

However, it’s Welshman Brennan Johnson who looks like the real Kane replacement right now, scoring six goals in his last half-a-dozen outings for the Lilywhites. It’s quite the revival for a man who received horrific abuse for his performance against Arsenal a month ago.

Brennan Johnson

At long, long last, Spurs are no longer reliant on what their all-time record goalscorer brought to the club. They’ve been searching for someone since the days of Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino's best and worst signings at Spurs

A year prior to the Argentine’s arrival in the English capital, it was a big old summer for Spurs. Gareth Bale was sold for a mega £85m fee to Real Madrid and in walked the likes of Roberto Soldado, Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen to name a few.

While Eriksen went on to become a Spurs icon, registering 88 assists and 69 goals across 305 outings, Soldado was sold just two years into Pochettino’s tenure, leaving for Villarreal after scoring just 16 goals in 76 matches. How the current USA manager replaced him was a strange one to say the least.

While club icons Heung-min Son and Toby Alderweireld both joined in 2015 – Poch’s second summer at the helm – it also saw Kevin Wimmer and Clinton N’Jie arrive.

In 2016 it was the turn of another club flop Vincent Janssen to arrive in the capital and he was joined by another notable dud Georges-Kevin N’Koudou. It’s safe to say that for every Son and Dele Alli that Pochettino acquired, there was a N’Jie or Serge Aurier.

So, where are some of those big-money duds now? Well, Janssen is actually having a happy time of it out in Belgium where the Dutch striker has scored 41 goals in 104 matches for Royal Antwerp after a spell in Mexico. But what about N’Jie? Things are far less successful for the Cameroon ace.

Where Are They Now

Your star player or biggest flop has left the club but what are they doing in the present day? This article is part of Football FanCast's Where Are They Now series.

What happened to Clinton N'Jie after leaving Spurs

In 2015, Soldado had just left and Emmanuel Adebayor wasn’t handed a squad number. Bleak times indeed which left Pochettino with a sole senior striker; Kane.

He tried to solve the lack of depth by bringing N’Jie to the club in a £12m transfer from Lyon. Upon his arrival, which also happened to be his birthday, the forward stated that he was “very happy to join Tottenham”, hailing them as “such a big club in England.”

Sadly, it never really worked out for the 44-cap Cameroon international who departed after just 14 goalless games for the club.

In that time, he played alongside the likes of Kane, Dele and Eriksen but even for three marvellous players, they could not get a tune out of N’Jie.

So, what’s he doing in the year 2024? Well, he’s struggling…again. After spells with Marseille, Dynamo Moscow and Sivasspor in Turkey, the 31-year-old is now playing in Romania for Rapid Bucuresti having signed for them a month ago.

Since arriving in the Romanian capital, his club side have played four games but N’Jie hasn’t appeared in a single one of them. French outlet Foot Mercato recently remarked that things have started ‘very badly’ for him.

Why hasn’t he played? Administrative reasons. The former Tottenham man has a work permit and is currently in training but all of the paperwork is yet to be accepted.

Even without taking to the field, the Cameroon international has been the subject of criticism. Writing for Gazeta Sporturilor, journalist Narcis Drejan stated: “Rapid is making a big mistake! N’Jie and Boupendza are two vagabonds, the kind of players who miss training. When they see what Bucharest has to offer… […] They know they have value, but they have no pressure, they come for the money, to have fun, they no longer come for football.” Harsh words indeed.

This is a player who has clearly had a successful career – you don’t earn 44 caps for your country without it being so – just he has failed to ever live up to the mass potential that Spurs hoped they had invested in nine years ago.

"Genius" boss who Pep Guardiola loves is now interested in managing Wolves

A currently unemployed manager, whose last job was in the Premier League, is keen on becoming Wolverhampton Wanderers’ next boss, according to a new report. It has been a poor start to the campaign for the Midlands side, so much so that despite doing an impressive job last season, Gary O’Neil is coming under considerable pressure.

John Percy: New update shared on Gary O'Neil's future as Wolves manager

The poor start to the season continued against Brentford.

ByHenry Jackson Oct 6, 2024 Gary O’Neil under pressure at Wolves

Wolves are winless in their opening seven league games of the Premier League season; they have picked up just one point from a possible 21, and that came in a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest in August.

That form has put O’Neil’s side at the bottom of the table with a 5-3 defeat to Brentford over the weekend doing nothing to ease the pressure. However, despite the poor run of form, O’Neil still has the backing of the club’s hierarchy for now, according to John Percy of The Telegraph.

The former Bournemouth manager is reportedly going to be given time to turn the club’s fortunes around, with him set to consider changing the defensive structure. This update goes on to state that November fixtures appear to be crucial – Wolves face Manchester City and Brighton in October before playing Crystal Palace, Southampton, Fulham, and Bournemouth in November.

While O’Neil appears to have the backing of the club’s board at this moment in time, a manager who is currently out of work looks keen on landing the job should it become available.

"Genius" boss who Pep loves wants Wolves role

According to Football Insiders’ Pete O’Rourke, former Chelsea manager Graham Potter is keen on the Wolves job should it become available.

Graham Potter as Chelsea manager

This report states that Potter, who has been hailed as a “genius” by journalist Sam Morton, is keeping tabs on the ongoing situation regarding Wolves and O’Neil, as he sees it as an attractive job at an established Premier League team. It goes on to add that “many people” are monitoring the situation at Wolves, with the managerial position at Molineux having plenty of interest, including from David Moyes.

The update does also confirm what has been reported by Percy, but the manner of the defeats have been a concern for the club’s hierarchy.

Potter, who has been out of work since leaving Chelsea in April 2023, is said to be keeping an eye on the situation. The 49-year-old has seen his reputation suffer after the job at Stamford Bridge, but he is someone who is well liked in the game, as Man City boss Pep Guardiola heaped praise on Potter while he was struggling at Chelsea.

Guardiola said of Potter: “I would say to Todd Boehly, give him time. I know in big clubs, results are important, but I’d say give him time. The second half is what he is. What he’s done at Brighton is outstanding, but… we need time in the first season. I had (Lionel) Messi in Barcelona my first season, so I didn’t need two seasons because Messi was there.”

Chelsea scouts tracking aggressive midfielder who cost his club just £400k

Chelsea have made a habit of signing young talent from across the globe in recent years. This summer alone, the Blues signed no less than nine players all under the age of 25, including Portuguese duo Pedro Neto and Joao Felix, both 24, and English winger Jadon Sancho, also 24.

The previous summer, they also signed nine players under the age of 25, including striker Nicolas Jackson and midfielders Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer, the latter of whom has been a revelation at Stamford Bridge since moving from Manchester City.

It’s a strategy that, while it may have raised eyebrows, appears to be working for Chelsea, with Enzo Maresca’s side currently sitting fourth in the Premier League and enjoying a fine run of form that has seen them go undefeated in all competitions since the end of August.

Defender Renato Veiga, who also joined the Blues this summer, recently described Chelsea’s current cohort as a family.

“It’s special that here in Chelsea now, we have a big group, a big family, and everyone feels together,” the 20-year-old told the club’s website.

Belahyane next at The Bridge?

Chelsea aren’t done building their family just yet, according to Tuttomercatoweb. On Saturday, the Italian outlet reported that the Blues are keeping tabs on Hellas Verona midfielder Reda Belahyane, having sent scouts to the Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium to watch him in action against Venezia on Friday night.

Marseille also had scouts present on the night, according to Tuttomercatoweb. Those watching would likely have been impressed with what they saw, with Verona running out as 2-1 winners and Belahyane making both the second-most tackles and passes for Verona.

Who is Reda Belahyane?

Born in France, Belahyane, 20, represents Morocco at international level. The deep-lying midfielder began his professional career at Ligue 1 side Nice, where he made his first-team debut as a teenager in March 2023. He moved to Verona in January 2024.

His former club Nice previously described him as “a technical and creative player with the ball, aggressive and willing to win the ball back”. He is also elite on the ball, weaving in and out of pressure in the middle of the park, sitting in the 97th percentile for successful take-ons by midfielders, as per FBRef.

He’s now a regular for Verona having started all seven of the club’s Serie A matches this term and has been highly praised by manager Paolo Zanetti for his performances, with the Italian boss particularly fond of his ability to win second balls and apply pressure to his opposing numbers.

By his own admission, Belahyane bases his game on that of Chelsea and France legend N’Golo Kante, who is widely regarded as one of the best holding midfielders of all-time.

Insider Drops Update On Thomas Partey Transfer

Arsenal's Thomas Partey is not close to a move to Saudi Arabia as his discussions with Saudi Pro League clubs are "not something advanced" at the moment, despite the genuine interest in him from sides in the Middle Eastern state, claims transfers expert Fabrizio Romano.

Is Thomas Partey leaving Arsenal?

It has been a frankly unbelievable start to the transfer window for Arsenal so far this summer, with the club splashing the cash in a major way on several new marque signings.

So far, the club have confirmed the £65m purchase of German international Kai Havertz from cross-city rivals Chelsea and the £34m signing of Netherlands international and Ajax star Jurrien Timber.

Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.

The Gunners have also smashed the British transfer record to sign West Ham United captain Declan Rice, despite the club yet to announce it officially.

With all of this spending, it's perhaps not surprising to hear that some players may be on their way out of the Emirates this summer, with one name consistently mentioned over the last few weeks being midfield general Partey.

American outlet CBS Sports revealed last month that the former Atletico Madrid man was on the radar of three clubs from the Saudi Pro League; Al Nassr, Al Ahli, and Al Khaleej.

It looks like things might've progressed further than interest in the last month, as Saudi journalist Nawaf Al-Aqeel reported earlier this week that Partey was now discussing personal terms with "a Saudi club."

However, Fabrizio Romano has since confirmed that these reports are untrue and that, at the moment, nothing has advanced regarding the interest from these few sides.

He explained the situation on his YouTube channel, saying:

"At the moment, for Thomas Partey, it's still not something advanced with Saudi clubs.

"They want him, I told you, it was an exclusive news a few days ago, a few weeks ago, but at the moment, it's still not something advanced, so let's see what happens with Thomas Partey, and then we will understand on the midfield for Arsenal."

Should Arsenal sell Thomas Partey?

It's an interesting question, as had it been asked in January, the answer from almost all quarters would likely have been a resounding no, such was his importance to the Gunners' title charge last season.

thomas-partey-arsenal

That said, as the north London side's campaign fell apart in the latter stages of the season, the Ghanaian international was often one of the players to receive most of the criticism.

Telegraph reporter Sam Dean highlighted his surprising drop in form on the Arsenal Beat Podcast (via Fansided), saying:

"Thomas Partey has dropped off a cliff in the past few games. He's forgotten how to play football in the same way, and watching him against City on Wednesday was bizarre."

That said, the 31-year-old is still a brilliant player, and his underlying numbers bear that out.

Southampton's RomeoLaviain action with Arsenal's Thomas Partey

According to FBref, who compare players in a similar position across Europe's top five leagues, the Black Stars midfielder is in the top 5% for progressive passes, the top 6% for attempted passes, the top 15% for pass completion, the top 11% for successful take-ons and aerial duals won, and the top 23% for clearances, all per 90.

If the club are looking to challenge for the Premier League yet again next season, it might be wise to keep Partey in the side as he has shown, more often than not, that he can be one of the league's best midfielders.

Newcastle eye move for £26m “huge talent”

Newcastle United massively overachieved this season. Despite their monstrous new investment under a different regime, the club is still miles ahead of its projected trajectory.

With this has come the dreamy, and previously unreachable Champions League qualification, which means that Eddie Howe must accelerate his attempts to add sufficient depth to his squad to make it capable of challenging on multiple fronts.

The Magpies have already kickstarted this process with the sensational signing of Sandro Tonali for a whopping £55m and due to their excessive budget they find themselves linked to a flurry of different players.

One of the most high-profile sees Harvey Barnes touted with a move to St James Park, but with Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur also keenly tracking the Leicester City man, it could become a complicated deal.

Therefore, a cheaper and more attainable alternative is available in the form of Jesper Lindstrom.

What’s the latest on Jesper Lindstrom to Newcastle?

According to FootballTransfers, the 23-year-old is keen on a move to Newcastle.

Lindstrom is intent on playing Champions League football next season and is willing to push for a move out of Germany to achieve this, despite generally being happy at Eintracht Frankfurt.

This outlet believes this decision was accelerated by the 2022 Europa League winners' dismal end to the last campaign as they recorded just two wins from their final 13 Bundesliga games as Oliver Glasner was fired in May.

The Austrian was reportedly a mentor to Lindstrom and this has prompted the player to search for a new challenge at a higher level.

It was previously revealed that he could leave the club for around £26m.

Why do Newcastle want Jesper Lindstrom?

The attacking midfielder has been at Frankfurt since 2021 and has made 77 appearances in all competitions, recording 27 goal involvements. He was a pivotal figure in the club’s sensational run to Europa League, providing four assists and playing for 70 minutes in the final, as they secured a penalty shoot-out victory over Rangers.

Domestically, the ten-cap international has also shown himself to be a formidable asset as he was named the Bundesliga Rookie Award last year, as he registered ten goal contributions in the division.

The Dane carried this form into the last campaign, raising his goal and assist tally to 11. He is a player who is constantly improving, and his statistics are similar to that of Harvey Barnes, who will supposedly cost almost double his price at £50m.

Harvey Barnes Leicester City

Lindstrom is closely ranked to the Englishman in a number of metrics including: goals per shot (0.16 vs 0.13), shot-creating actions per 90 (2.94 vs 3.30), and % of shots on target (42.2 vs 43.4).

Furthermore, although Barnes is an impressive goalscorer, he still has much to improve on regarding build-up play, residing within the lowest 23% in Europe’s top five leagues among his positional peers for passes attempted per 90, pass completion, and progressive passes per 90.

Although a lesser-known name, Lindstrom is described as a “huge talent” and could emerge as an extremely smart acquisition if Howe opts for this route.

Man Utd In "Talks" To Sign "Incredible" £69m Ace

Manchester United are believed to be continuing their bid to sign Atalanta starlet, Rasmus Hojlund, with the Red Devils stepping up their search for a new number nine.

What is the latest on Hojlund to Man United?

According to Sky Sports journalist, Dharmesh Sheth, the Old Trafford outfit are currently in negotiations with regard to the signing of the 20-year-old, with Erik ten Hag and co also hoping to seal a deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

Writing on Twitter regarding those two possible arrivals from Italy, the transfer insider revealed: "Manchester United bid worth €45m now in for Inter Milan keeper Andre Onana as per @lauriewhitwell.

"Gap in valuation exists – but feeling is it can be closed. United still looking at alternatives. Talks continue with Atalanta over striker Rasmus Hojlund."

As per 90min, the Serie A side could well demand as much as €80m (£69m) if they are to part ways with the Danish marksman, albeit with United currently unwilling to go beyond €60m (£51m).

How many goals has Rasmus Hojlund scored?

For all the talk regarding the youngster's "incredible maturity" and the fact that he is believed to be "similar to [Erling] Haaland" – according to his former boss Christian Ilzer – the one-time Sturm Graz man is still an incredibly raw and relatively unproven talent, having scored just nine league goals for Atalanta last term.

For the Bergamo-based side to be demanding such a hefty fee despite that relatively uninspiring goal tally is rather ludicrous, with there seemingly similarities to be made between United's previous, costly capture of Amad Diallo from the Serie A side.

Amad Diallo for Sunderland

The promising Ivorian was just 18 when he was signed on a £37m deal by United back in January 2021, with that sizeable price tag coming despite the fact that the teenager had made only five first-team appearances for his former employers.

While there are hopes that the winger can finally make his mark at Old Trafford next season – after scoring 14 goals on loan at Sunderland last time out – Amad has thus far been on the periphery at his parent club, having been restricted to just nine first-team appearances for the Red Devils since arriving in England two-and-a-half years ago.

At present, it does look as if United may have overpaid for a player who has had little impact at the Theatre of Dreams thus far, with it yet to be seen if the diminutive wide man will come good over the coming years.

With Ten Hag in desperate need of a striker who can come in and make an immediate impact – with Anthony Martial currently the only senior centre-forward at the club – the Dutchman can ill-afford a repeat of the Amad tale, hence the potential reservations over bringing in Hojlund to be the club's number nine solution.

Of course, the latter man has shown flashes of brilliance in his short career to date – having scored 12 goals in just 21 games during his time in Austria – although his acquisition would still represent a real gamble and a costly one at that.

With the Red Devils having gone a decade without a league title triumph, the need for immediate success is now growing.

Can Hojlund be the man to deliver that much-craved league crown? On the evidence of his promising, yet far from prolific form in Italy, that appears unlikely…

Chelsea Could Replace Azpilicueta With £26m Davies-Like Gem

Chelsea have already waved goodbye to a number of first-team regulars this summer, with more set to follow in the coming days as part of a mass squad overhaul.

While the likes of Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic and Manchester United-bound Mason Mount will be missed, others have either had less of an impact at Stamford Bridge (Kalidou Koulibaly) or simply have not played as much of late (N'Golo Kante).

One player who very much will be missed should he move on this window is long-serving captain Cesar Azpilicueta, who has once again been linked with the exit after an 11-year stay at the club, during which time he has won every trophy on offer.

Amid claims personal terms have already been agreed between Azpilicueta and Inter on a two-year deal, The Sun reports new Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino is willing to let the defender leave for a nominal fee – or indeed, for free.

That is because Pochettino is already happy with the options he has available at right-back, with Reece James hopeful his injury issues are behind him, while Malo Gusto is now part of the squad after signing from Lyon in a £26m deal in January.

James will start the new Premier League season as Pochettino's first choice down the right, but Gusto showed last season at Lyon – whom he re-joined in January on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season – that he may well have a big part to play this season for the Blues.

Who is Chelsea full-back Malo Gusto?

Gusto spent two seasons as a first-team regular for Lyon, racking up 51 Ligue 1 appearances since the start of 2021/22 and catching the eye with his attacking play down the flank.

As pointed out by Football.london writer Bobby Vincent, the 20-year-old "is very dangerous going forward" and also "has an eye for a cross". That is very much reflected in the stats, with his 6.55 crosses per 90 minutes last season very similar to the number recorded by James at Chelsea (6.59), as per FBref.

Chelsea'sReece James

There are other similarities between the pair, too, as they also completed a similar number of passes per 90 minutes last season (64.6 for James, 66.2 for Gusto) and also won a near-identical number of tackles (1.45 v 1.47), suggesting the France U21 international will be a good fit for Chelsea.

Using FBref's player comparison tool, there is a full-back even more alike Gusto in terms of their statistical profiles: Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies.

The pair won a similar number of tackles per 90 last season (48.8% for Gusto, compared to 46.2% for Davies), hit the target from a similar number of shots (42.9% v 42.1%) and registered blocks at a similar rate (1.24 v 1.23).

They also had the majority of their touches in the middle third of the field (43.6 v 40.2) – highlighting where they spend most of their time – and played 4.80 and 4.85 passes into the final third per 90 respectively.

Whether it is the next Davies that Chelsea have signed or a younger version of James, it is clear that Gusto is a talented player who is capable of challenging for a first-team place once Azpilicueta's exit is finally sanctioned.

Man United Not Keen To Splash £80m On Bundesliga Striker

Manchester United's search for a striker looks like it may drag on, with the club now stalling on a move for another target in Randal Kolo Muani, according to a report from The Mirror.

How many goals has Randal Kolo Muani scored?

The current Eintracht Frankfurt striker has only been with his club for one season, but has already made quite the impact in Germany with his new team. He bagged a total of 15 goals and eleven assists over the course of the Bundesliga season – double digits in both areas – and didn't struggle to adapt to life in a new country in the slightest.

His rate of 26 goal contributions in just 31 starts was actually a career best for the player, averaging out at 0.89 goal contributions per 90.

It means that, right now, he ranks as one of the best in his position in Europe. When compared to other strikers in the Men's 'Top Five' big leagues, his non-penalty goal rate of 0.43 per 90 is well above average (70th percentile) and his assist ranking is even better. With 0.31 per 90, it puts him in the top three percent in that category – meaning that not only can Kolo Muani hit the back of the net frequently, but is one of the very best at teeing up his teammates too.

That has led to the player already generating interest in his services from elsewhere. Premier League side Man United are one of the biggest names to make an approach for the forward, with the Red Devils having already made contact over a potential transfer for him this summer. However, things have quietened for the Frankfurt man and it may now be clear as to why.

Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani

Are Manchester United signing Randal Kolo Muani?

According to a report from The Mirror, the German side are demanding a fee of £80m for the striker this summer window – and United are not too keen to fork out that amount of money for him.

The Red Devils have looked at other potential striking options too but have also previously been put off by the asking prices for some of their other targets. The club opted not to move for Harry Kane because Tottenham wanted an "unrealistic" amount for example and a deal for Victor Osimhen is also seen as too expensive for the side.

Now, it appears as though the man they thought could be a cheaper alternative to Kane may also be priced out of a move to Old Trafford. If the Red Devils want to bring in some fresh recruits in attack though, they may be forced to bite the bullet with either the Frankfurt striker or one of their other targets this transfer window.

West Ham hold talks with "unbelievable" £25m gem as Rice’s heir

West Ham United are part of a hotly contested race for Bristol City sensation Alex Scott.

What’s the latest on Alex Scott to West Ham United?

According to the Evening Standard, the Hammers are weighing up a move for the 19-year-old, who could cost in the region of £25m.

It is understood that the Irons have held “initial talks” with the player’s camp and are to make a decision in the near future.

Why would Alex Scott be a good signing for West Ham?

The youngster made 42 second-tier appearances, averaging 1.8 tackles, 1.1 dribbles, and 1.1 aerials won per game, as he has established himself as a magnificent all-rounder and one of the country’s most exciting talents. Strong in the tackle, this also a young man capable of gallivanting past opponents with consummate ease.

His sensational rise to stardom means that Scott was named the Championship Young Player of the Year and also in the division’s Team of the Season.

As such, there is a shared expectation that the Englishman will leave the Championship side this summer.

CBS reporter Ben Jacobs said: “I revealed he would definitely go this summer and that is still my understanding that Bristol City will not be able to hang on to the player and they know that.

“There are, believe it or not, eight different clubs that in the last year have enquired about Alex Scott. There is a realistic possibility that they move on a fantastic player who I think could in the future be very big and consistent in the Premier League.”

This has been echoed by his manager Nigel Pearson, who added: “I believe Alex will play for England one day. I thought that when I first saw him in a training session and nothing since has changed my mind.”

Clearly, he is brimming with wondrous versatility and limitless potential, possessing the ability that could fill the impending void about to be left by Declan Rice.

After guiding the Irons to the Europa Conference League victory, the club captain is set to depart the London Stadium, with Arsenal reportedly due to make a third bid for the midfielder.

Declan Rice Europa Conference league winner

The former Chelsea academy player is of inexplicable importance to David Moyes, as he ranks within the top 20% in Europe’s top five leagues among his positional peers for progressive passes, progressive carries, and interceptions per 90.

His ability to recover the ball, protect the backline, and progress the ball forward are all attributes that Scott has in abundance, and his arrival would herald a new, exciting era in East London, whilst softening Rice’s exit.

Indeed, when compared to positional peers in the next eight best leagues, Scott ranks in the top 12% for progressive carries to highlight his effervescent ball-carrying nature.

Described as “unbelievable” by Pep Guardiola, the prodigy has proven he is simply far too superior for the Championship and is ready for top-flight action, perhaps in place of Rice at West Ham.
